WOFL/WRBW TO PRESENT THE 2018 FLORIDA CUP IN CENTRAL FLORIDA

ORLANDO – WOFL/WRBW will present the 2018 Florida Cup, the fourth edition of Florida’s largest annual celebration of international soccer, featuring some of Europe’s and Latin America’s biggest soccer clubs and stars, announced station Vice President and General Manager, Allyson Meyers.

In making the announcement, Meyers stated, “Since we are an Official Licensee of Major League Soccer on Fox35, including the Men’s FIFA World Cup commencing on June of 2018, it makes sense for us to build upon our stable of live sports programming year-round on WRBW.”

“As the Florida Cup continues to grow, we are thrilled to partner with my 65 and FOX 35 to bring this exciting annual event to passionate soccer fans in Central Florida, and statewide through FOX Sports Florida for the first time,” said Florida Cup CEO Ricardo Villar.

WRBW/my65 will air one of the Florida Cup’s marquee matches, between legendary club Rangers FC of the U.K. and 2017 Brazilian Serie A Champions Sport Club Corinthians at the University of Central Florida’s Spectrum Stadium, on January 13 at 1 p.m. The match will also be simulcast throughout the Sunshine State on FOX Sports Florida. FOX 35 “SportsZone” will air special coverage of the competition ahead of the first match on January 10th continuing through the final match on January 20th. The Florida Cup, an annual preseason gathering of the world’s top soccer clubs, will be played at various venues throughout Central Florida, with six matches located in Orlando. Viewers may visit the station’s website (fox35orlando.com) for more information and to purchase tickets.

WOFL/WRBW are part of the FOX Television Stations, one of the nation's largest owned-and-operated network broadcast groups, comprising 28 stations in 17 markets and covering over 37% of U.S. television homes.  This includes seven duopolies in the top 10 markets: New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco, Washington, D.C. and Houston; as well as duopolies in Minneapolis, Phoenix, Orlando and Charlotte.

The Florida Cup is the largest international soccer celebration held annually in Florida. It is a global platform that combines sports and entertainment. Broadcasted live in 2017 to over 140 countries, the tournament reached over 50 million viewers. Globally recognized soccer clubs from Europe and Latin America will convene in Central Florida for this premier tournament – a final tune-up before the start of their respective campaigns and the kickoff for a World Cup year.
