Former Corinthians, Atlético Nacional and Palmeiras players will meet in January at the 'Florida Cup Legends 5v5 Tournament'

Orlando, Fla. – December 18, 2019 – The Florida Cup Legends 5v5 will be a reunion of great idols representing the clubs that will participate in the sixth edition of the Florida Cup.Representing Corinthians will be Jose Ferreira Neto, Ronaldo Giovanelli, Marcelinho Carioca, André Luiz, Renato Abreu. Palmeiras legends will include Rivaldo, Denilson, Clebao, Zinho and Amaral.

Atletico Nacional will be represented by legendary Colombian goalkeeper René Higuita, famous for his "scorpion kick,” as well as Francisco Najera, Aquivaldo Mosquera, Milton Patiño and Camilo Zuñiga.

"We are honored to host these, not just club legends, but many former World Cup stars as well here in our hometown of Orlando," said Florida Cup CEO Ricardo Villar.  "To host this type of unique event here with our partners at Universal Orlando Resort, further reinforces Orlando as a destination of choice for international soccer!"

Additional legends as well as the event schedule and format will be announced in the coming days.In the event’s first edition last year, Flamengo’s team which included Zico, Caio Ribeiro and others, was crowned champion by defeating Sao Paulo comprised of Raí, Lugano and Falcão.

The Florida Cup Legends 5v5 matches will take place in an arena set up specifically for the event at Universal Studios Florida. Entry to the Florida Cup Legends 5v5 is already included in the Universal Studios Florida theme park ticket.
On January 15, Corinthians, current three-time champion of São Paulo and twice champion in the last four editions of Brasileirão, faces Major League Soccer’s Eastern Conference Champions New York City FC. The same day, there will be a clash between Palmeiras, the Brazilian champion in 2016 and 2018, and Atlético Nacional, the winningest Colombian champion and 2016 Copa Libertadores Champion. Both matches will be held at Exploria Stadium, home of Orlando City SC and the Orlando Pride, in downtown Orlando.

On January 18, Exploria Stadium will host the Florida Cup 2020 finals. NYCFC faces Palmeiras, while Atlético Nacional plays against Corinthians.

In the break between the two matches, for the second year in a row one of the biggest singers in Brazil: the Bahian muse Ivete Sangalo, will give a live performance for all in attendance. Tickets are available at
For the third consecutive year, the Florida Cup Fan Fest will be held at Universal Studios Florida at the Universal Orlando Resort. The Music Plaza Stage will host a concert by Brazilian legend Ivete Sangalo on January 19th, starting at 7 p.m.
The largest annual international soccer event in the Sunshine State, the Florida Cup is already a January tradition in Orlando, Florida. In six years, the Florida Cup has become a global platform that combines sports, music and entertainment.

In 2019, the live attendance of the event exceeded 40 thousand people with international TV audience reaching over 5 million unique viewers. Across social networks, the content posted by the official accounts of the event as well as the postings of the influencers present at the event had a reach of more than 100 million people. To date, 26 international clubs have participated in the Florida Cup: Flamengo (BRA), São Paulo (BRA), Corinthians (BRA), Atlético Mineiro (BRA), Fluminense (BRA), Vasco da Gama (BRA), Bahia (BRA), Internacional (BRA), Ajax (NED), PSV Eindhoven (NED) , Eintracht Frankfurt (GER), Bayer Leverkusen (GER), Schalke 04 (GER), Wolfsburg (GER), FC Köln (GER), Shakhtar Donetsk (UKR), Estudiantes de La Plata (ARG), River Plate (ARG), Atlético Nacional (COL), Millonarios (COL), Santa Fe (COL), Barcelona (ECU), Fort Lauderdale Strikers (USA), Tampa Bay Rowdies (USA), Rangers FC (SCO) and Légia Warsaw (POL). 2020 newcomers Palmeiras and NYCFC will be the 27th and 28th clubs to participate in the Florida Cup.
